British 1822 Pattern Sergeants Sword
“These swords are much scarcer than
the officer’s swords. Sergeants were not required to purchase their swords
and they were passed around the regiment until they were no longer fit for use.”
H. Withers, British Military Swords.
This sword has some minor staining to the
blade and some pitting near the tip. There are a couple of nicks in the edge
of the blade but it does not detract from the appearance. There are no maker’s
marks on this blade which was typical of a sergeant’s sword.
